Man Thought He Found A Puppy In The Forest – When Vet Sees Them She Calls The Police
She went back to work, examining the pup with precise, practiced motions. Its shallow breaths made the room feel smaller.
Dr. Monroe finally straightened, exhaling sharply. “I need you to wait outside,” she said—firm, but not unkind. “I’ll do everything I can, but I need space.”
Daniel’s feet felt heavy, but he obeyed, stepping out into the waiting area. He lingered near the door, eyes locked on the small glass panel. Inside, Dr. Monroe’s hands pressed gently along the puppy’s ribs, her focus unbroken.
Her frown deepened. She reached for the ultrasound machine without a word.
The low hum filled the room as she ran the probe over the pup’s belly. Her gaze froze on the monitor. Something shifted in her expression—something she didn’t hide quickly enough.
Without warning, she turned, crossed the room, and picked up the office phone.
Daniel leaned forward. “What? What is it?”
She ignored him, speaking low into the receiver.
“Yes, I need officers here immediately… No, he doesn’t seem to know… Yes, it fits. Just get here fast.”
The receptionist’s eyes flicked toward Daniel, unreadable.
Fits? Fits what? The words stuck in his head like thorns.
“Why are you calling the police?” he demanded, his voice tight.
Dr. Monroe faced him, arms folded. “Just sit tight, Daniel. Wait here.”
Vague. Cold. It made his skin crawl.
